Amiga X1000 3D Graphics Engine update!

Warp3D

Our very own AmigaOS “Chief Warp3D Engineer” Hans-Jorg Frieden has been working hard to make Warp3D a reality for RadeonHD graphics cards. ;-)

Beam me up…..Hans-Jorg??

In his latest progress update, he is happy to report that texture support is now implemented. According to Hans-Jorg, “There are still a few glitches that need to be taken care of but the triangles come out as textures and the shader interface is working too.” As expected, he was able to re-use much of the R200 code. Also the texture support of RadeonHD cards is much wider than that of the R200, meaning there is virtually no texture conversion required. All good news. :-)

Vuzix’s SMART Glasses Eyewear, Industrial Monocular Display, and Thermal and Tactical Monocular Display are one step closer to making the Deus Ex Dream a working reality. Going by the technology showcase at CES, the futuristic lenses seem to delivering their promise. The Thermal and Tactical Monocular Display, funded by DARPA is still under progress.

The Deus Ex like vision employs a compact HD display engine which can project images with high contrast. This makes the image visible under strong bright light as well. The images are relayed to a 1.4 mm polymer waveguide optical lens which can be worn over either eye. The lens’ surface also features input and output hologram structures.

The demo specs feature a resolution of 1280X720 (color), a 30 to 50 degree field of view, HDMI or VGA video interface and 500+ nits luminance. The lens is designed to be as durable as any plastic prescription lenses would be. The primary purpose of Monocular Display vision was to provide for an interactive relationship between soldiers in the field. Soldiers can access strategic data and be alerted of an incoming aircraft before it is in the visible range.
