BBM: Why to use only this App! – UTB Blogs

Whatsapp is the leading purveyor of metadata collection, a “cancer of mobile apps” perhaps. It has spread its tentacles far and wide and is making a mess of users’ privacy.WhatsApp also collects device-specific information when you install, access, or use their service — such as the model of your phone, its operating system, and information from your browser, IP address, and mobile network — including your phone number. Why should so much information be of interest to them? This goes against what they always claimed. That user privacy comes foremost. Please remember that their encryption protocol implementation is closed source; it’s proprietary. At any point in time, your messages can be easily seen by law enforcement. Who can collect it is a matter of debate but they are only interested in metadata which is more than enough to track any user. In fact, WhatsApp leaks your metadata like a sieve. Why do you want to stay invested in it?

BlackBerry DTEK70 lit up at the video for a few hours before the presentation – 4PDA

New renderings and official videos unannounced BlackBerry DTEK70, which is known under the code name of Mercury, flowed into the network shortly before the presentation at the CES 2017. The image shows the device in the black colors of the shell. On the front side of its appearance corresponds to what we’ve seen before, so most likely it will show today BlackBerry such a device. DTEK70 rear panel appeared for the first time. On the upper left side of it is a large unit of the main chamber, and the center – BlackBerry logo.

BlackBerry Android January Security Update Available NOW!

BlackBerry is quick to roll out the first security update of the new year. Here we are three days in to the new year, and BlackBerry is already rolling out the January security update for Android powered BlackBerry devices.Owners of devices purchased through Shop BlackBerry should already have the update available. For the rest of us who purchased our devices through carriers, we will have to wait for our specific carriers to push the update to us.In a not from BlackBerry, “If your BlackBerry powered by Android smartphone does not have an up-to-date software build available, please contact your retailer or carrier directly for security maintenance release availability information.” I’d suggest to do this soon and do it often.Remind your carrier that the update is available and the only thing standing between that update and you is them. Remember, the world of mobile security is constantly moving, and having timely updates are integral to our device security. The latest update is dated January 5, 2017. To verify your version, head to Settings>About Phone. For information about the security fixes included in this update, click here.

From Concept to Reality: BlackBerry-QNX’s Groundbreaking CES Tradition

The annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas has been growing in importance for the automotive industry over the years. You can hardly fail to notice that this year, as in previous years, the big automakers vie for floor space and attention with the glut of big screen TVs and other consumer goods. As always, BlacBerry-QNX will be in the North Hall, proudly in the middle of the big automotive OEMs. At CES BlacBerry-QNX has an enviable history of bringing concept cars that rival anything on the show floor, with one important difference – ours are not pure flights of fancy, and we show technologies that will become realities in the near future. We started this trend back in 2010 with an LTE-connected Toyota Prius – 18 months before the first commercial LTE deployment in mid-2011. Working with Alcatel-Lucent to provide the experimental network, we demonstrated Google maps functionality with local search and an embedded Pandora radio app in a car for the first time. Connectivity is standard in many cars today, but in 2010 we demonstrated the future.

BlackBerry ‘Mercury’ could make its way to Verizon | CrackBerry.com

While TCL has already committed to telling us more about their BlackBerry plans at CES 2017, that certainly has not stopped the bits and pieces about the BlackBerry ‘Mercury’ from popping up unofficially. The latest comes by way of Roland Quandt, some of which has been floated about before, but some of which is certainly new information, such as a possible launch of the device on Verizon. In a stream of Tweets, Quandt notes the list of model variations for the ‘Mercury’ as well as claiming the device will come with a Snapdragon 625, a rumor floated about for a while now, but one he feels confident enough in confirming.
